Grief is a natural part of life for all of us, but we don’t have to go through it without support. That’s why we’ve put together a list of helpful bereavement resources to help you and your loved ones through difficult times.
Websites & Online Communities
There are countless websites offering grief support and bereavement resources. Many of these websites also work as online communities, including What’s Your Grief. In addition to traditional grief resources, this website provides an interactive experience where people can share their grief and become a part of their international online community.
Grief counselling is an important step in the grieving journey for many people. Grief counsellors are trained to talk with you about your complex emotions, and help you to process them in a healthy way. The New Zealand Grief Centre offers counselling options over the phone or via Zoom if you would feel more comfortable that way, but if you would like to see a grief counsellor in person, get in touch with us. We can get you in touch with the right professional for you.
Books & Podcasts
For many people, reading a book or listening to a podcast can be a therapeutic experience. They allow you to hit pause on your own thoughts and immerse yourself in somebody else’s words and experiences. Whether you want to read a fictional story about grief, a self-help book, or listen to someone talking about their grief journey – books and podcasts can work as great grief resources.
Support groups offer an opportunity to sit down and talk with like minded people who are also experiencing grief. Sometimes these can be guided discussions, or simply a catch up with some tea and biscuits. If you or someone you love is interested in joining a support group, get in touch and we’d be happy to point you in the right direction.
Hopefully there is something in here to help you through your grief journey. If you have any questions or would like more information about any of these recommendations, please don’t hesitate to contact one of our friendly and professional team members.
